Cwm Graig Ddu ( Black Rock) To Brecon Beacons
From Cilmeri we travel to Garth to the Red Kite Viewing Point before crossing the military range and learning about the history of the land.
Next, we stop at the UK’s oldest Yew Tree on Defynnog before stopping at the International Rarebit Centre for a bite to eat. We then take a 2/12 hour walk at Ystradfellte taking us behind majestic waterfalls. We then travel on to Defynnog to see the 5000-year-old Yew tree, returning home to Cilmeri via the mock-German village on the Sennybridge military range.
ABOUT THIS MID WALES TOUR
From Cilmeri we travel to Garth to the Red Kite Viewing Point before crossing the military range. Opportunity to learn about the fauna and flora, the history of the range, how it was taken over in 1940 and about the last people to be moved off the land at the Epynt Visitor Centre.
Then we head onto Brecon and up to the Brecon Beacons Visitor Centre. From there to Heol Senni and up and over to Ystradfellte and into Waterfall Country!
WHAT WILL YOU SEE?
Here you may see peregrine falcons, red kites, sparrowhawks and merlins, there may also be a few hen harriers. You will see wild Welsh mountain ponies which have roamed these areas for many hundreds of years. You will walk behind waterfalls at Ystradfelte, which has the largest concentration of waterfalls in Wales. We carry on with breathtaking scenery all around, over Cader Fawer, down to the A470, passing the highest mountains in South Wales - the Brecon Beacons. On a clear day, Pen y Fan is visible here. Those wishing to take a longer trip could walk up to Pen y Fan. We return via Trecastle and Llywel over the military range, past the mock-German village and home to Cilmeri.
