Richard started Welsh Overland Safari in 2014 because he wanted to share his passion for the area and share his knowledge with like-minded adventurers.

Richard is born and bred in Mid Wales and although a builder by trade he has always had a passion for being an ambassador for the area that started to be realised when he and his wife Jane, both pictured on the right opened Pwllgwilym Holiday Cottages, in Cilmeri in 2006.

Richard is vastly experienced and has a wide knowledge of the area, he is the vice-chairman of Natural Mid Wales, a group of like-minded tourism businesses with an interest in promoting and preserving the biodiversity and natural beauty of Mid Wales as well as being an active member of his local rotary club.

Richard is a certified Brecon Beacons National Park Ambassador, which includes taking courses on the Dark Night Skies, the Geopark on the eastern side of the park and the flora and fauna of the area.

In his spare time, he enjoys learning more about the history of the area (so he can tell more tales of myth and folklaw during tours), playing golf and spending time with his family.
